Leave Johnny Alone!!!!

Mar 15, 2013 -- 3:24pm

I had a dilemma today. Talk about men’s basketball or Johnny Manziel? Considering there’s not a lot to say about last night’s game against Mizzou, I’ll go with the easy one and talk about Johnny Football.

Some photos have surfaced recently of Heisman Winner Johnny Manziel on Spring Break in Cabo, living it up with some friends/acquaintances on the beach.

 (I spy aaaa.......DUUUUUCK FAAACE!!!)

Before you jump to conclusions, it’s legal to be under 21 and drink in Mexico. It’s also legal to be under 21 and gamble at an Indian Casino.

And drink at a club when your parent is present.

(The sparklers are a different story. Fire is dangerous)

Now, if Johnny was any other college kid, none of this would be a big deal. But it’s JOHNNY F****** FOOTBALL!! His otherwise meaningless photos have become tabloid fodder, and it’s got people all over the nation talking.

Now, I’m not saying that I feel sorry for Manziel. It seems to me that he’s got the whole world in the palm of his hand at the ripe ol’ age of 20. But it has got to be tough at times not getting to be a normal kid. He is doing the same things that millions of other people his age are doing, but his fame and notoriety cause him to get blasted for it. Granted, he should put some more thought into his actions (mainly his tweeter comebacks), but he is just trying to live a normal life.

Less than a year ago, Manziel was arrested on Northgate after a physical altercation and possessing a fake I.D. Many here in B/CS knew about it, as did some of the Aggie Nation, but it didn’t come across as really that big a deal, just a kid who got into some trouble. But can you imagine if that happened today? Pandemonium; anarchy; people on fire.

I personally don’t judge Johnny. Who’s to say they wouldn’t be doing exactly what he’s doing if they were in his place? But, unfortunately, in the tabloid-social media world we live in, his actions are under constant scrutiny. What I’m trying to say is this. Manziel is not doing anything illegal, and if it doesn’t affect his play and his education, why bother with it? It just goes to show that people and the media have nothing better to do with their time than judge celebrities who are just trying to be normal people like you and me. LEAVE JOHNNY ALONE!!!!
